This Day in History

documentary film by Zoran Ćatić, Sead Kreševljaković and Miroslav Živanović

Bosnia and Herzegovina, 2008, color, Beta SP, 52ʼ

The day on which the idea of civic society in B-H was born and brutally murdered at the same time.  It was a unique moment of triumph of civic consciousness, which recognised the danger of nationalism, which was arming quickly. However, the hope for the country given by the citizens at the Parliament building did not last long and it was squashed on the same day. It seems like an appropriate moment almost sixteen years after to investigate the crime that happened on 5th of April 1992. What actually happened on that day? Were those events in front of the Parliament building an organised civic action or spontaneous gathering of the worried individuals aware of the mayhem awaiting B-H? Was this action doomed even before it happened? How sincere it was?
